War is a Racket
Originally printed in 1935, War Is a Racket is General Smedley Butler’s frank speech describing his role as a soldier as nothing more than serving as a puppet for big-business interests. In addition to photos from the notorious 1932 anti-war book The Horror of It by Frederick A. Barber, this book includes two never-before-published anti-interventionist essays by General Butler. The introduction discusses why General Butler went against the corporate war machine and how he exposed a fascist coup d’etat plot against President Franklin Roosevelt. Widely appreciated and referenced by left- and right-wingers alike, this is an extraordinary argument against war – more relevant now than ever.
“More timely than ever.”
— Ed Rampell, LA Alternative Press
“Butler is scathing in his description of how the U.S. government wasted the lives of those soldiers who died but also of those who survived… A stunning condemnation of U.S. militarism and it ends with a demand that rings true down to today – ‘To hell with war.’”
— Ashley Smith, Socialist Worker
“America had seen its own attempt at a Fascist coup. Why, then, is this incident in U.S. history not better known? Why don’t children learn in school about the plot to seize the United States government?… The time has obviously come for Smedley Butler to have his moment in the sun. Butler’s attack on the military-industrial complex does more than expose war for the racket it is: It also gives the antiwar movement unmatched credibility.”
— Ken Mondschein, corporatemofo.com
“There is little likelihood one will encounter a putdown and discounting of armed service, while questioning the reason for it, by a top experienced commander, anywhere within a light year of Marine General Smedley D. Butler’s WAR IS A RACKET. And there is utterly nothing comparable to the grim anthology of photographs devoted to the unspeakable hideousness of the bloody gore of modern – since Napoleonic times – warfare, THE HORROR OF IT. The American public recoiled from these two works when they were published, in close sequence, two generations ago… We can hope that this dual masterpiece at hand, in quite a different context, does a better job of reducing the level of ignorance.”
— James J. Martin
The Secret Source
Whence did the “Law of Attraction” emerge?
Here’s a fascinating and easy-to-understand breakdown on esoteric metaphysics and its odd path to modern day cult. The Secret Source is enhanced by striking visuals largely taken from rare sources housed at The Philosophical Research Society of Los Angeles.
The new clothbound edition of The Secret Source includes a new chapter highlighting The Law of Attraction as promoted by secret societies through the ages, including Albert Pike for Scottish Rite Freemasonry, and new images from the fraternal brotherhoods.
“Picking up where Rhonda Byrne’s The Secret left off, coauthors D’Aoust (lecturer, Philosophical Research Soc.) and Parfrey (Cult Rapture: Revelations of the Apocalyptic Mind) explain how believers and visionaries from a variety of teachings have improved their well-being using mental powers. They guide readers through several Hermetic teachings, shed light on the New Thought spiritual movement, explain how the Christ mythos and Jewish kabbalistic texts borrowed from the Hermetic tradition, and reveal how many of today’s get-rich-quick schemes have roots in Hermetic laws. While not for everyone, this book provides an unbiased view of the teachings of secret societies and will interest many patrons. Recommended for all libraries.” —Library Journal
“In The Secret Source, authors Maja D’Aoust and Adam Parfrey break down the ancient Hermetic teachings that have led to the recent outbreak of self-help ideas and schools of New Thought that are taking over the gullible masses. Though the subject matter is at times a little deep and the philosophies can be somewhat esoteric, the authors have done a good job of laying everything out in terms that are understandable without being dumbed down. I highly suggest that you make this book your next selection.” — Elizabeth Headrick, Book Fetish
The Manson File
OUT OF PRINT
The Manson File caused a sensation when it first appeared in 1988 under the Amok Press imprint. Never before had uncensored source material from the Family itself become available in a commercially distributed book.
Now, under Feral House’s Resurrection series, here’s the entirety of a long out-of-print book, complete with Manson’s letters, spells, curses, artwork, lyrics, stories, and an essay on the power of evil, intended not for the public, but to influence his circle of followers. A picture emerges of what it was like to be part of Charles Manson’s Family, and the process of conversion to Mansonism.
Here are rare photos, revelations by Lynette “Squeaky” Fromme and Sandra Good, an examination of Manson’s ATWA ecological organization, and links to revolutionary right-wing factions and Libya’s Colonel Khaddafy. Included is an annotated bibliography, anecdotes, death certificates, bizarre coincidences, and obscure but pertinent facts that provide the keys to unlock further unsolved mysteries.
The End Is Near!
Originally a landmark exhibition at the trailblazing American Visionary Art Museum in Baltimore, The End Is Near! presents the largest collection of visionary art ever assembled on the subjects of apocalypse, millennium, and utopia.
Alongside these powerful, challenging, and at times obsessively elaborate works of art, The End is Near! presents some of the most provocative and innovative minds of our time probing the mysteries of the coming age, and the end of the world. Harvard scientist Stephen Jay Gould, Georgia’s famous visionary evangelist Reverend Howard Finster, Apocalypse culture expert Adam Parfrey, and Nobel Prize recipient His Holiness the Dalai Lama join curator Roger Manley and dozens of gifted, world-renowned visionary artists in the quest for ultimate knowledge.
The End is Near! reveals a strong spiritual kinship between these brilliant minds of today and major luminaries of the past like Hieronymus Bosch, William Blake and Emmanuel Swedenborg. It hints at shared understandings between self-taught contemporary visionaries and such ancient prophetic traditions found in Classical Greece, Aboriginal Australia and the seers of the Holy Scriptures. Included in The End is Near! is the entire Revelation of St. John the Divine, perhaps the most influential and widely referenced–yet rarely read–work on the ultimate fate of humanity and the universe.
The End is Near! should become compulsory reading for anyone intrigued by the mysteries, depths, and triumphs of the human spirit.
About Roger Manley
Roger Manley’s books, screenplays, photographs, and curatorial endeavors have earned him a world-class reputation, particularly in the field of outsider art. He is the author of several books and director of the recent feature documentary MANA: Beyond Belief, which won the C.I.N.E. Golden Eagle in 2005.
“An exciting, monumental, first-rate book devoted to a universal phenomenon whose time has come at last. Perhaps this is the art of the twenty-first century.” — Michael Bonesteel, The Outsider
“A wonderful book.” — David Bowie
“The obsessiveness, the intensity and yes, sometimes the just plain madness that characterizes what’s called Outsider Art also account for its extraordinary vitality and the direct impact of these images on the viewer. The End is Near should put to rest any questions of whether “outsider” art should be studied, collected, or shown in museums at all.” — John Strausbaugh, New York Press
The Devil’s NoteBook
At last, the collected wisdom, humor, and dark observations by the founder of the Church of Satan. The Devil’s Notebook is the first original collection of LaVey’s writings to be published in two decades. The High Priest speculates on such topics as nonconformity, occult faddism, erotic politics, the “Goodguy badge,” demoralization and the construction of artificial human companions. Like P.T. Barnum, Ben Hecht and H.L. Mencken before him, LaVey zeroes in on humankind’s limitless capacity for self-deceit and self-denial. Included are instructions for the creation of what LaVey terms “total environments,” or places of magical evocation, where the enlightened may escape the deleterious effects of contemporary existence.
The Devil’s Notebook is truly a noir grimoire, available just in time for the third millennium.
Sin-A-Rama
In all its forbidden glory, period “sleaze” erotica receives an investigation into the medium with extensive interviews and cover art.
“In this entertaining and still-stimulating collection, the ways in which the various authors dealt with their work emerge with radical variety, just as different individuals treat their more basic instincts.” —David Cotner, LA Weekly
Contributions by Stephen J. Gertz, Jay A. Gertzman, John Gilmore, Michael Hemmingson, Lydia Lunch, Lynn Munroe, and Robert Silverberg.
Sin-A-Rama celebrates the near-forgotten world of erotic paperbacks from the 1960s when sex acts were described with code words, writers used pseudonyms, and publishers hid behind mail drop addresses.
Sleaze paperbacks sold by the million, and their unorthodox content provoked FBI investigations, court battles, and prison sentences for the crime of “obscenity.” Earl Kemp, the notorious Greenleaf Books editor, provides an insider’s perspective. In “My Life as a Pornographer,” science fiction legend Robert Silverberg divulges how he and other authors learned their sleaze craft.
The bizarre glories of cover artists Robert Bonfils, Gene Bilbrew, Eric Stanton, Bill Ward and others are seen throughout in lurid color. A useful appendix reveals the actual names behind the pseudonyms, revealing both the established and fly-by-night sleaze paperback operators.
The new expanded edition includes B. Astrid Daley’s profiles on “Occult Sleaze,” “Swinging Sleaze,” and the tawdry taboo stuff that sleaze literature fell into during the 1970s.

The Process Church magazines, published between 1967-1971, the celebrated thematic magazines of the notorious Process Church of the Final Judgment cult were created to be hawked on the street in order to raise money and attract like-minded adherents to their unorthodox Gnostic theology.
Printed in order of their first appearance, the Sex, Fear, and Death issues are here reproduced in their entirety. The first edition of this collection published in 2009 now sells for over a thousand dollars.
The magazines reproduced in this book are lionized as being decades ahead of their time in terms of the sophistication of its art and design. Love Sex Fear Death
The Process Church of the Final Judgment was the apocalyptic shadow side of the flower-powered ’60s and perhaps the most notorious cult of modern times.
The Process Church of the Final Judgment was the apocalyptic shadow side of the flower-powered ’60s and perhaps the most notorious cult of modern times. Hundreds of black-cloaked devotees, often wearing a satanic “Goat of Mendes” and a swastika-like mandala, swept the streets of London, New York, Boston, Chicago, New Orleans, and Toronto, selling magazines and books with titles like “Fear” and Humanity is the Devil.
Members would participate in “Midnight Meditations” beneath photographs of the Christ-like leader. Celebrities like Marianne Faithful, James Coburn, and Mick Jagger participated in Process publications, and Funkadelic, in its Maggot Brain album, reprinted Process’ “Fear Issue.” Process’ “Death Issue” interviewed the freshly-imprisoned Charles Manson leading to conspiracy hysteria in such books as Ed Sanders’ The Family and Maury Terry’s The Ultimate Evil. A lawsuit against Sanders’ Manson book led to the removal of its Process-themed chapter by Dutton.
Love, Sex, Fear, Death is the shocking, surprising, and secretive inside story of The Process Church, which was later transformed into Foundation Faith of the Millennium, and most recently as the Utah-based animal sanctuary, Best Friends. Timothy Wyllie, a formative member of the Process and Foundation Faith organizations contributed a comprehensive history of the group and its rituals. Love, Sex, Fear, Death also includes interviews with other former Processeans; selections from the rare and notorious Process magazines; never-before-seen photographs; and fascinating transcripts from holy books. New to this edition will be select court transcripts from the 1972 suit where the Process Church sued Ed Sanders for libel in England (and won.)
Author Biography: Timothy Wyllie (1940-2017) was born in Great Britain and raised in London and is one of the original Process Church members.
