Just a reminder that we are having a slew of events in Los Angeles this weekend to support our big release Pacific Ocean Park: The Rise and Fall of Los Angeles’ Space Age Nautical Pleasure Pier, with a foreword by Brian Wilson, from our sister press Process Media!

The authors Christopher Merritt and Domenic Priore are doing a few very special events over the weekend and Chris flew all the way from Shanghai, where he is currently helping to design a large amusement park, and this will be the ONLY chance to get his signature on the book and to see him give a presentation and slideshow of the park. He and Domenic will be presenting a ton a fascinating information and engaging photographs from this long forgotten institute of human pleasure.

Think psychedelic ballrooms, Dogtown surfers, tiki design extremes, Pink Floyd, and a flaming boardwalk to get an idea…

Feral House/Process Lupercalia Party

Celebrate Wolves, Yé-Yé Girls, Witches, Feral House & Process Media!

It’s a full moon on Saturday, February 15, the day celebrating the Roman wolf festival Lupercalia.

It’s also the perfect night to celebrate Feral House’s new Yé-Yé Girls of ‘60s French Pop book, and Feral House and Process Media’s releases for the new year.

The lovely white witch Maja D’aoust (who co-wrote The Secret Source: The Law of Attraction and its Hermetic Influence Throughout the Ages) will speak about the pagan Lupercalia ritual.

We’ll have a freshly printed and bound copy of Hashish, The Lost Legend, which some have said is the most extraordinary special edition they’ve ever seen.

Adam Parfrey will discuss the recent and forthcoming Feral House and Process Media releases, including Chemtrails, HAARP and the Full Spectrum Dominance of Planet Earth, Citizen Keane: The Big Lies Behind the Big Eyes, and Black Metal: Evolution of the Cult.

Adding more delirium to the festivities, DJ Kitten Sparkles will spin prime examples of the Yé-Yé Girls experience.

This event will be held at Los Angeles’ Wacko and La Luz de Jesus Gallery, 4633 Hollywood Blvd., from 7 – 10 pm on Lupercalia, Saturday, Feb. 15.

This November 9th and 10th at UFO CON 2013 Kenn Thomas will be speaking on the subject of his book JFK & UFO: Military-Industrial Conspriracy and Cover-up from Maury Island to Dallas

Join Kenn as he examines the connections between the JFK Assassination and the Maury Island incident, first of the post-WWII UFO sightings. In addition to reviewing the facts of each case, including an up close examination of the Zapruder film, Kenn looks at signposts in the media of the time, often seen as coincidence but actually shown to be evidence of conspiracy. If JFK’s assignation was telegraphed ahead of time by the mass media then, what does that say about the mass media of today? Learn how the grassy knoll shooter and one of the first UFO witnesses are the same man. Learn the process by which covert actions are presaged in popular culture.

Would I be interested in meeting Alex Cox? The director Alex Cox, whose films influenced young me some decades ago?

Yes, I was asked this question by phone one Spring day a couple years ago by Tod Davies, whose enthusiasm drives Exterminating Angel Press, and who is married to Alex Cox. (Tod’s name means “death” in German; funny that she named her publishing company after the amazing Luis Buñuel film.)

So Tod informed me that she, her hubby and their beloved dog were driving up to Port Townsend WA from their Southern Oregon farm…. Alex seemed interested in acquiring some Feral House books, including The Assassinations, edited by Jim DiEugenio and Lisa Pease, the book of essays about recently released documents regarding the killings of JFK, RFK, MLK and Malcolm X.

It turned out that Alex also had a decades-long interest in these American political murders…  Little did I know at the time that he was finishing up a book that we would later publish as  The President and the Provocateur, a fascinating parallel history on JFK and Oswald that Feral House recently released.

To help promote his book, Alex released a couple great videos: Case Not Closed – The Umbrella Man and Case Not Closed – The Zapruder Film that raised the ire of filmmaker Errol Morris and essayist/journalist Ron Rosenbaum in a recent issue of Smithsonian magazine… More than anything, Rosenbaum was big on criticizing Alex Cox for his sloppy manner of dress in his video.

To which Alex Cox responded with a direct challenge to Morris and Rosenbaum in his piece Disheveled, Moi? I Challenge Errol Morris and the Smithsonian.

A couple of Alex’s films have been recently released in special editions by Criterion. You can view the special additions here of Repo Man and Walker.

If you’re in the LA area, it’s to your great luck that Alex Cox is appearing both tonight (Oct. 18) and tomorrow night (Oct. 19) in Los Angeles at the two essential bookstores, Book Soup and Skylight. Here is your chance to hear Mr. Cox discuss the Kennedy Assassination and perhaps anything else you’d like to ask him. How can you miss that?
