Technological Slavery: The Collected Writings of Theodore J. Kaczynski, a.k.a “The Unabomber”

Are we having too much fun? Might be. After all, we recently got an email asking, “Are you legal?”

Yes we are despite the fact that a couple of our authors bide their time behind jail doors.

One is Theodore John Kaczynski, or The Unabomber, his rock star name provided by the Federal Bureau of Investigation prior to his arrest and conviction in 1996 for killing three people and injuring 23 others.

Anyone who took the trouble to read his notorious “manifesto” know that this troubled but brilliant man may well be, as Dr. David Skrbina calls him in this tome, “A Revolutionary for Our Times.”

“Technological Slavery” is an out-and-out bomb of a book, 432 pages of incendiary critique of the techno-industrial system, and ways to change it, and ways that won’t. Included within is a corrected version of “Industrial Society and Its Future,” recent essays since the man’s incarceration. Even technophiles like Sun Microsystems’ Bill Joy has sung Kaczynski’s praises.

“Like many of my colleagues, I felt that I could easily have been the Unabomber’s next target. He is clearly a Luddite, but simply saying this does not dismiss his argument. . .. As difficult as it is for me to acknowledge, I saw some merit in the reasoning in [Kaczynski’s writing].” — Bill Joy, founder of Sun Microsystems, in “Why the Future Doesn’t Need Us,” Wired magazine

Mel Gordon, the author of the amazing “Voluptuous Panic: The Erotic World of Weimar Berlin,” and Thomas Andrae have checked in with a book that reveals how Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster tried to get back at DC Comics and its wholesale theft of their Superman with the clownish Funnyman, a superhero based on Jewish entertainer Danny Kaye. Here see the super-rare comic panels, Sunday funnies and daily strips, in addition to Gordon and Andrae’s essays revealing the real-life model for Superman, the origins of Jewish humor, and the reasons that Funnyman was created simultaneously with the state of Israel.

The Fix Is In
The Showbiz Manipulations of the NFL, MLB, NHL and NASCAR

Brian Tuohy

“With The Fix Is In, Brian Tuohy makes a compelling, fact-based argument that not everything in the sports world is as it seems—that behind the visceral thrills and feel-good hype lies a potentially dark underworld of profit motives, conflicting interests and perhaps rigged competitions, in which nothing occurs by happy accident.” — Patrick Hruby, ESPN.com
